Summary
In 2007, after 14 years of successful legal practice in international shipping law at Independent Consultants Co. Ltd. which was then transformed into Dzungsrt & Associates, Nguyen Manh Dzung came to the School of International Arbitration, Queen Mary's School of Law, University of London to study International and Comparative Commercial Arbitration, and International Trade and Investment Dispute Settlement (Investment arbitration), led by leading UK law professors including Professor. Julian Lew, QC and Professor. Loukas Mistelis. Both professors are currently ICSID Arbitrators. Back to Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Manh Dzung directly involved in editing and drafting the Law on Commercial Arbitration of Vietnam in 2010, the guiding documents as well as Civil Procedure Code 2015 on the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards. He became the co-founder and vice president of the Pacific International Arbitration Center (PIAC) and later became a member of the Research Council of Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC). Mr. Nguyen Manh Dzung has built and developed arbitration practice at Dzungsrt & Associates LLC. become one of the leading law firms in Vietnam specializing in this field. Nguyen Manh Dzung has been internationally accredited with being the first Vietnamese lawyer to become a member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) since 2009, the first Vietnamese member to hold two consecutive terms in International Court of Arbitration, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris, France, a global arbitration institution and the Korea Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB). As one of the few Vietnamese lawyers properly trained in both commercial arbitration and investment arbitration, Mr. Nguyen Manh Dzung is the only one in Vietnam who has unique experience in drafting laws and administering arbitration institution, practising as an arbitration counsel and arbitrator for various types of disputes and are invited to teach and speak at many academic forums in the country and internationally.
